Spring is Here!

Spring is here
A-suh-puh-ring is here
Life is skittles and life is beer
I think the loveliest time
Of the year is the spring
I do, don't you? 'Course you do
But there's one thing
That makes spring complete for me
And makes every Sunday
A treat for me

-Tom Lehrer, Poisoning Pigeons in the Park

Spring is indeed here! It is a time of growth, new life, and change. Theologically speaking, it is a time of joy, resurrection, and renewal.
In a way, spring is full of life and happiness and sunshine.

Below are a few pieces of art depicting spring and questions to ponder.

  • As you look at the different people in this painting, what do you see?

  • Are they paying attention to the world around them?

  • Does your life change in spring?

  • Are you distracted by something?

  • Where do you see God at work in the world during spring?

  • What makes your heart and soul bloom?

  • Do you ever ponder what sort of fruit you will grow this year? (Think fruit of the Spirit, not actual fruit.)

  • What do you know about the life cycle of actual fruit (and why flowers are vital!)?

  • What have you done this winter to prepare your heart for spring?

  • This painting is done in an impresssionist style. Do you have a clear vision of where God is calling you?

  • When you look at your life, what do you hope will be restored?

  • Where do you see the hope of the resurrection?

  • What new thing is God doing?

  • How are you inviting the Holy Spirit into your life?

  • Are you seeking transformation?
